Get HAPPY, NOW!

Yes, we are back on this ‘get happy—now’ theme because it IS so important!

One of my most favorite sources of quotes and positive ideas is Abraham. Have you heard of Abraham? Esther Hicks channels a non-physical energy collective who prefer to be known as Abraham. Esther has been sharing the insights and wisdom she receives from Abraham for over 25 years and for me it is fantastic information. I encourage you to check out Esther’s offerings on their website: www.abraham-hicks.com.

Today’s daily offering is:

Tell everyone you know: “My happiness depends on me, so you’re off the hook.” And then demonstrate it. Be happy, no matter what they’re doing. Practice feeling good, no matter what. And before you know it, you will not give anyone else responsibility for the way you feel — and then, you’ll love them all. Because the only reason you don’t love them, is because you’re using them as your excuse to not feel good.

—Abraham   (Excerpted from the workshop in Asheville, NC on April 30, 2005)

How simple—maybe not necessarily easy, but simple! And, again, our practice becomes that of letting others off the hook for our happiness. Another famous Abraham, Abraham Lincoln, is also credited with saying that, “People are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” It is our choice concerning how happy we choose to feel and be in any moment.

Here are a few tips and ideas for getting to a happier place, more quickly.

  • Create a list of at least 35 items that bring you joy when you think of them. Then, use one item each day as a focus. Whenever you catch your mind wandering, re-focus on your item for that day and smile or laugh, happily.
  • Get up, get moving and change your ‘state’. Most of us feel better when we are more active. When our work keeps us desk-bound or more sedentary, it helps to take more frequent breaks to get up and get moving.
  • Breathe deeply. Oxygenate your system to increase well-being and feel better, happier. An oxygenated system is also healthier and that’s a good thing!

And, make no mistake—this is WORK. Without intent and effort on our parts, we are at the mercy of the thoughts and feelings that flow through our minds and bodies. It is a discipline developed over time through consistent intent and effort.

The world owes us nothing. Our life is a gift and what we make of it is up to us! Choose wisely; choose happily, and—get HAPPY, now!
